We, the undersigned associations representing key European Research and Innovation stakeholders, hereby voice our concerns regarding the extension of the Public Sector Information (PSI) directive to research data, and call on the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to ensure a sound coherence between the different EU legislative texts on research

The Directive on the re-use of public sector information (Directive 2003/98/EC, known as the 'PSI Directive') entered into force on 31 December 2003. Best Practices for Sharing Public Sector Information As a result of the Share-PSI 2.0 Thematic Network's efforts, national, sectoral and community guidelines around implementation of the (Revised) PSI Directive have been created, or updated, taking into account the information exchanged at the workshops and codified by the standards bodies.

On 6 February 2019, Member States’ Ambassadors confirmed the agreement between the Romanian presidency and the European Parliament on the revised Public Sector Information directive (PSI), which extends the scope of the rules on re-use of public sector information to research data.
